Tropical Bliss: Creamy Coconut Turmeric Mango Popsicles Recipe

Shutterstock

As the weather turns pleasantly warm, it’s the perfect time to refresh your menu with delightful treats like cold brew coffee, crisp salads, and, of course, tasty popsicles. These golden milk mango popsicles not only tantalize the taste buds but also sneak in a wealth of nutrition that kids will actually enjoy.

Made with creamy coconut milk, sweet mango, and the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric, these popsicles are a fantastic way for kids to cool off. And as a parent, you’ll appreciate the antioxidants, high vitamin C content, and healthy fats packed into this delicious treat!

Mango Popsicle Variations

While it’s common to find mango popsicle recipes that require only a few ingredients, I wanted to elevate this recipe by enriching it even more. Remember those coconut mango popsicles made with probiotic water kefir or electrolyte-rich coconut water? This version maintains the delightful creaminess and coconut flavor but adds the beneficial aspects of golden milk.

The flavor isn’t just refreshing; these popsicles also support immune health and combat inflammation. For those who suffer from seasonal allergies, these ingredients may help your body better navigate environmental challenges.

Golden Milk Mango Popsicle Ingredients

Here’s a closer look at the ingredients and their benefits:

  • Mango – Packed with Vitamins A, C, and B6, mangoes offer fiber, magnesium, and potassium. These nutrients boost immune function and enhance regularity. Antioxidants like mangiferin may help reduce blood lipid levels and inflammation as well.
  • Turmeric – Renowned for its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric provides a vibrant golden color to your popsicles. Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, may even inhibit histamine release from cells, making it beneficial for allergy sufferers.
  • Black Pepper – It might sound surprising, but adding a pinch of black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin, thanks to piperine. Mixed with coconut and honey, the flavor seamlessly blends in.
  • Citrus Juice – Lemon and lime juices are high in vitamin C, known for supporting the immune system. Lemon specifically has a higher vitamin C content and can also alleviate symptoms related to overly sensitive bronchial tissues.
  • Ginger – This warming spice is a powerful antimicrobial. Ginger helps combat viruses and bacteria, bolsters digestive health, and reduces inflammation, making it an excellent support during illness and allergy seasons.
  • Coconut Milk – A versatile ingredient, coconut milk not only gives the popsicles their creamy texture but is also rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). MCTs have been shown to reduce inflammation, which can be particularly advantageous for allergy sufferers.
  • Raw Honey – Full of micronutrients, raw honey serves as a natural sweetener with antimicrobial properties. While it’s not a standalone remedy for allergies, local varieties may offer some relief. Alternatively, maple syrup can be used as a mineral-rich substitute.

How to Make Mango Popsicles

The process is straightforward and requires just a blender and popsicle molds. Simply combine all ingredients in the blender and mix until smooth. My kids particularly enjoy specific molds, but using a silicone ice cube tray works well too if you don’t have traditional popsicle molds. The number of popsicles you yield will depend on the size of your molds.

Golden milk meets summer treat. These creamy, anti-inflammatory popsicles are dairy-free, refined sugar-free, and kid-approved.

  • Add everything to a blender and blend on high for 60 to 90 seconds until completely smooth.
  • Taste and adjust. Add more honey if you want it sweeter, more lemon for brightness.
  • Pour into popsicle molds, leaving 1/4 inch at the top. Tap out air bubbles and insert popsicle mold top.
  • Freeze for at least 4 to 6 hours or overnight.
  • Run the mold under warm water for about 10 seconds to release. Serve immediately or wrap in parchment, place in a freezer-safe bag, and freeze for up to 3 months.
  • For a creamsicle twist, swap out 1/2 cup of mango for canned pineapple.
  • For a milder flavor for kids, consider reducing the turmeric to 1 teaspoon.

For an extra twist, sprinkle Tajin chili lime seasoning in each popsicle mold before pouring in the mixture for a unique Mexican flair.

Shelf Life and Storage

To keep these popsicles at their best, store them in the freezer, ideally consuming them within a few months. I often prepare a double batch and keep the unmolded popsicles in a freezer-safe silicone bag. This makes it easy to grab some when cravings hit! Alternatively, you can wrap them individually in parchment paper to prevent sticking.
