Adulting, With Shenanigans + The Best Labor Day Sales

Shutterstock

Happy weekend!! We’re flying home to see my mom AND Raines is flying in from college to meet us, too! I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. Did he make it to the airport all by himself, passport in hand, to his gate on time?

Um.

Yes? Yes. Technically that’s a yes.

Were there also some shenanigans of the phone died/alarm not going off/locking self out of dorm/sprinting across campus for another key/almost missing flight variety? Also yes.

Adulting hard.

Welcome to the club, buddy.

Cool jewelry, on sale. Take an additional $10 off for every $100 spent in our already marked-down sale section. Sale even includes that silver heart necklace everyone on the team has fallen for, since it balances both sweet and tough, and looks good with sweaters, bare skin, and everything in between.

J.Crew’s Labor Day sale is…trouble. Currently in my cart? This sporty sweater (with the number on it), this cool tee in ‘walden green’ (I sized up, tho), these navy menswear pajamas that get the menswear details exactly right, a cute slip skirt that will look amazing with graphic tees & ballet flats (or sneakers!), aaaaand a cute rugby/polo shirt hybrid, with a drawstring waist which will look especially cute with all of my looser, baggy jeans.

PSA: Ursa Major Labor Day Sale just started 15% off sitewide (and 20% off select favorites). If you do NOTHING ELSE…try the Mountain Glow Serum and spray deodorant (my two favorite products, hands down). If you want all my favs, throw this bundle in, too.

Best gift ever (on sale): OGEE’s contour kit. I’ve raved about this set time and again (clean beauty brand, based in Vermont, I literally use it daily), but also check out the reviews. I swear half of them are from the 70+ crowd and they’re adorable and are giving me serious goals.

The new UGGs are cuuuuuute: Loafers with a cozy, by-the-fireplace vibe and these new Tasmins that are just freaking cool.

My perfect early fall outfit: This whole thing. Jeans & a tee, but with an almost preppy twist. I’d finish the look with my fishnet ballet flats and this bag (a leather bag that vibes like my summer straw ones). That preppy plaid + fishnet combo is one we put into our Fall Style Playbook last year, and I still love it. (WAIT: The jacket is on sale at Evereve.)

If you want those jeans, tho: Rail’s Getty jean, in ‘Wild West’ wash. The wash is perfect, but to get that slouchy vibe (like on this model), I plan on sizing up two sizes. They really do look like that perfectly broken-in, grabbed from your boyfriend pair. And while this style of jean is also available in petite lengths…that specific wash is NOT. BOOOOOOO.

One of the coolest sweatshirts I’ve ever owned is on sale. That nubby texture is so good in person, and the fit is TTS (you don’t want it super oversized).

A *perfect* v-neck sweater: thissssss. Laura threw a photo of herself wearing it on our TME Group Chat and I was stunned. She looked like one of those Pinterest girls, all softly slouched v-neck and extra-long sleeves. It’s like a basic…but not at all basic. I haven’t clicked on something that fast in ages. (Laura has the medium – I’m getting the same.)

Coolest necklaces to wear with v-necks? For a splurge, these chatelaine necklaces are an epic choice (my favorite is ‘gemini‘), or try, surprisingly? This chunky one. It reads almost messy & kinda beachy on, and looks seriously cool with v-necks. The full necklace is 19″ on the last hole, and with v-necklines I like wearing it as long as possible.

Bizarrely comfortable high heels. These!!! Gang, Inez reached out, asking if I’d like to try a pair of shoes…and…well, while I *could’ve* gone with something practical (like these ankle boots, honestly), instead I ordered the Sofia strappy heels in sparkly silver SO FAST. I already own that exact pair in tan and they’re a favorite: drop-dead sexy and walkable (but obviously not as sparkly!!). I’ve been stalking that silver for a while. Inez shoes are known for being comfort first, and have an insole that’s basically layers of padding & foam. I find these heels to be more comfortable than Sarah Flint’s, too. Sarah Flint’s have more true arch support, but I find Inez’s heels more comfortable and easier to walk in.

Sports Fans, listen up! Evereve has a bunch of Junk Food NFL tees and hoodies on sale for Labor Day (think: fan gear, but cute). If you need a game day fit, these are an easy win. (Size up, tho – Junk Food runs small.)

For my guys: Lands’ End cashmere sweaters (in some colors) are on sale with code LABORDAY. My Dad swore by Lands’ End, uh, everything when I was growing up, and after he passed, my Mom gave my boys his old cashmere sweaters…and created MONSTERS. They love them. So now I’m stalking Lands’ End for cashmere sales (and they want size XL, just like my Dad’s old sweaters) while my Dad is out there somewhere, chortling.

Bye, Bye Clare Earrings. We’ve barely talked about these gorgeous Clare earrings (they kind of, just, sold), and now there’s only four left. I’m tempted to steal one of the last remaining pairs because they’re from the coolest Spanish designer, one I stumbled across in Madrid a couple of summers ago. Because of the tariffs and other logistics (small businesses on both ends, haha) we can’t realistically restock (sob!) so when they’re gone….they’re gone. Hand cut, hand painted, incredibly lightweight and sooooo pretty on. These are a sleeper hit.

Ang needed “a page turner” and three people recommended The Calamity Club. So now it’s on my list, too.

Enjoy the long weekend!

xo,

S
